A Free Lecture and Learning Activity

Please join us for a free program on the history of linen. We will explore the making of flax into linen; from field to fabric!

Our program will include an audiovisual presentation, an up-close look at our “Threads” exhibit artifacts and a “hands-on” activity with linen textiles.

Participants will study the Conference House collection of antique tools of the trade such as flax break, hackle, carder and spinning wheel. The exhibit includes dried flax plant samples, yarn, and linens.

The program will start in the kitchen of the Conference House. Enter through the kitchen door on the south side of the house.
